Hose, Fuel Filler Pipe

WARNING: Removal of the hose to the fuel filler pipe involves partial dismantling of the car's fuel system. The following points must therefore be observed in connection with this work:
- Work only in a well-ventilated area! If approved equipment for the extraction of fuel vapors is available, be sure to use it.
- Wear suitable gloves! Prolonged contact with fuel can cause skin irritation or dermatitis.
- keep a class BE fire extinguisher near at hand! Be mindful of the danger of sparks caused by short circuits and when connecting and disconnecting leads in electrical circuits.
- No smoking anywhere in the vicinity.
- Wear protective goggles.

Dismantling

1 Check the fuel level in the tank and, if necessary, drain to a lower level.

Important
The tank must never be drained by suction through the filler pipe as this will damage the non-return valve!

2 Drive the car on to a lift and raise it.
3 Raise the car.
4 Undo the hose clamps and detach the hose from the tank and the filler pipe.

To fit

1 Fit a new hose. Apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly (vaseline) to the ends of the pipe to assist fitting.
2 Tighten the hose clamps.

3 Lower the car to the floor.
