Warning And Indicator Lamps Controlled By Main Instrument Unit
This applies to the following lamps:
- Central warning lamp
- Door indicator lamp with associated doors
- Direction indicator repeater lamp, LH
- Direction indicator repeater lamp, RH
- Indicator lamp INFO DISPL
- Indicator lamp, rear fog light
- Selector lever position indicator lamps (P.R.N.D.3.2.1)
- Fuel reserve indicator lamp
- Warning lamp, brake fluid level
Fault symptoms
One of the listed lamps does not work.
Diagnostic help
The lamps can be activated with the diagnostic tool. For fault diagnosis of the bus, see Bus and Diagnostics communication. See Computers and Control Systems.
Check the wiring harness
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to detect intermittent breaks and short-circuits in the leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic tool during the test.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Check the defective component
- Which component caused the fault?
CENTRAL WARNING LAMP
- Go to step 2.
DOOR INDICATOR LAMP
- Go to step 3.
FRONT LEFT DOOR LAMP
- Go to step 4.
REAR LEFT DOOR LAMP
- Go to step 5.
FRONT RIGHT DOOR LAMP
- Go to step 6.
REAR RIGHT DOOR LAMP

LAMP, TAILGATE

2. Checking the lamp
- Contact Main instrument unit.
- Activate: Central warning lamp (ON).
- The lamp should light.
Is the function correct?
YES
- See fault diagnosis of system in question.
- Go to step 16.
NO
- Check and replace faulty bulb.
- Go to step 16.
3. Checking the lamp
- Contact Main instrument unit.
- Activate: Lamp, Door indicator (ON).
- The lamp should light.
Is the function correct?
YES
- See fault diagnosis of system in question.
- Go to step 16.
NO
- Check and change the faulty bulb.
- Go to step 16.
4. Checking the lamp
- Contact Main instrument unit.
- Activate: Lamp, Door LH front (ON).
- The lamp should light.
Is the function correct?
YES

5. Checking the lamp

- Activate: Lamp, Door LH rear (ON).
- The lamp should light.
