Heater Core: Service and Repair
Heater Box Removing
1. Fit hose clamp pliers part. No.30 07 739 on the hoses by the heater box.
2. Remove the hoses from the heater box.
3. Blow with compressed air in one pipe to drain remaining coolant from the heater box.
4. Remove the ACC unit where fitted, see Electronic Climate Control/Electronic Climate Control Module/Service and Repair.
5. Work through the following steps.
- Remove the glove box. Service and Repair
- Remove the panels on both sides of the centre console. Service and Repair
- Remove the cover around the ignition.
- Remove the rear ashtray.
- Remove the rear air vents and the cover.
- Remove the bolts that secure the rear part of the centre console. Service and Repair
- Remove the switches for the window lifts.
- Remove the centre console. Service and Repair
6. Cut the cable ties and remove the rear floor air ducts in front of the heater box.
7. Open the heater box enclosure.
8. Remove the clips securing the hoses to the heater box.
9. Remove the toggle clips on the side of the heater box, pull down the pipes and lift out the heater box.
Heater Box Installation
1. Fit the heater box.
2. Check that the O-rings are positioned correctly and that they are not damaged. Refit the pipes and secure with the clips.
3. Close the heater box enclosure.
4. Refit the rear floor air ducts and secure with a cable tie. Work through the following:
- Refit the centre console. Service and Repair
- Refit the switches for the window lifts.
- Refit the rear part of the centre console. Service and Repair
- Refit the rear pant of the air vent and the cover.
- Refit the rear ashtray.
- Fit the cover around the ignition.
- Refit the panels on both sides of the centre console. Service and Repair
- Refit the glove box. Service and Repair
- Refit the ACC unit, see Electronic Climate Control/Electronic Climate Control Module/Service and Repair.
6. Refit the coolant hoses on the heater box and secure with hose clips.
7. Fill coolant.
