Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair
Removing
1 Drain refrigerant from the A/C system, see Refrigerant, A/C/Service and Repair.
2 Remove the grille.
3 Remove the horns.
4 Remove the left direction indicator.
5 Remove the left headlamp.
6 Cars with turbo:
Remove the charge air cooler and the pipe between the charge air cooler and the induction manifold. See Exhaust system, cooling system and turbo system.
7 Remove the protective device to the left of the receiver.
8 Remove both condenser retaining bolts and lift away the condenser.
9 Remove the bolt in the receiver PAD-connection. Plug the openings.
Fitting
1 Fill compressor oil, see Air Conditioning Compressor/Compressor Oil/Service and Repair.
2 Suspend the condenser and tighten the two retaining bolts.
3 Fit new O-rings on the pipes leading to and away from the receiver. Lubricate the O-rings with synthetic vaseline.
4 Fit the pipes in the PAD-connection and tighten the bolt.
Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.6 lbf ft).
5 Refit the protective device to the left of the receiver.
6 Cars with turbo:
Refit the charge air cooling and the pipe between the charge air cooler and the induction manifold. See 2:4 Exhaust system, cooling system and turbo system.
7 Refit the left headlamp.
8 Refit the left direction indicator.
9 Refit the horns.
10 Vacuum pump the A/C system and fill refrigerant, see Refrigerant, A/C/Service and Repair.
11 Refit the grille.
