Valve Guide: Service and Repair



Valve Guide

To remove





(from the cam side)
Pull out the valve guides in the direction of the arrow with:
(1) press, part no. 83 90 494,
(2) pull rod, part no. 83 93 811,
(3) spacer sleeve, part no. 83 93 829, and
(4) nut, part no. 83 93 845.
The valve guide is no. (5).

To fit

Note: To make fitting easier, heat the cylinder head with warm water and cool the guides.





1. Insert the guides from the cam side, position the pull rod from the valve seat.
2. center the tool in the valve seat and fit the guide in the direction of the arrow. Use:
(1) press, part no. 83 90 494,
(2) pull rod, part no. 83 93 811,
(3) end stop, part no. 83 93 837,
(4) centering sleeve, part no. 83 90 379 and
(5) nut, part no. 83 93 845.
The valve guide is no. (6).
3. Rough ream the guide with the tool, part no. 83 93 944, and finish ream with a 7.0 mm H7 reamer.
