Procedure

Before any procedures are carried out, check your DCS/IRIS Recall Inquiry to see If the car has not already had the recall completed. If not, continue as below. Certain cars may have already been completed (indicated on VIN Status List with a numeral "1")..

WARNING:
Do not release the locking pin for legroom adjustment when the seat is removed from the car without having first of all removed the torsion spring. This risks the seat rail sliding backwards and causing bodily injury.

All illustrations show right-hand front seats but the same applies even to left-hand front seats.

1. Remove the seat from the car, see 8 Body, Seats in WIS.

2. Position the seat in the reclined position with the underside easily accessible and the backrest in the raised position. Lift up the backrest upholstery's rear piece for better accessibility.

Be careful of the upholstery.

WARNING:
One of the seat rails has a torsion spring to make leg room adjustment easier.

Unhook the torsion spring very carefully before work is started.

3. Remove the bolt that holds in place the bracket with the easy entry sleeve. Use a narrow screwdriver (Torx T30).

4. Remove the bracket with the easy entry sleeve and adherent spacers. Depress the locking pin for legroom adjustment to make removal of the cable easier.

5. Remove the cable's outer casing from its rear attachment.

6. Remove the cable from its rear attachment.

Use a pair of pliers to remove the eye on the end of the cable from the recliner.

7. Remove the old easy entry sleeve from the bracket.

8. Fit the new easy entry sleeve in the bracket.

Note:
It is important that the cable is lifted in the correct position.

9. Fit the eye on the end of the cable using a pair of pliers.

Note:
It is important that the cable is lifted in the correct position.

10. Fit the cable's outer casing to its rear attachment.

11. Fit the bracket together with the easy entry sleeve to the chassis with the new screw (Torx T30). Do not forget the spacer. Depress the locking pin for legroom adjustment to make fitting of the bracket easier.

12. Move the seat rail so that the seat rests in the rear position.

13. Fit the torsion spring in the seat rail. Tighten the spring very carefully.

WARNING:
Do not touch the locking pin for legroom adjustment after the torsion spring has been tightened.

14. Fit the seat in the car, see 8 Body, Seats in WIS.

15. Check that the fitted easy entry system is working correctly.

Marking the modification identity plate

After completing the procedure, the modification identity plate is marked in box B2 using a numeral "8" (Saab Special Tool P/N 02 97 713). If needed, order this special tool directly from Kent-Moore at 1-800-345-2233.
