Upholstery Fabric, Seat Cushion




To remove
1 Remove the front seat from the car.
2 Manual front seat: Remove the handle for height adjustment and the knob for backrest rake adjustment. Use a screwdriver.


NOTE: When removing the knob, note that the backrest recline spindle may be removed with the knob.







3 Remove the seat side panel, 2 caps and 3 screws. Lift the back of the side panel and pull it forwards.
4 Electrically adjustable front seat: Unplug the connector from the switch unit and remove the memory buttons, if any.







5 Where necessary, remove the seat belt mounting.







6 5D: Remove the plastic covers on each side of the backrest joint.


NOTE: The plastic covers conceal the holes for access to the screws holding the seat at the rear.


7 Undo the seat cushion at the rear, 2 screws.
8 Undo the seat cushion at the front, 2 screws.







9 Detach the straps securing the bottom of the backrest upholstery at the front.
10 Cut the cable ties. Unplug and mark the connector.
Remove the seat cushion.
11 Release the upholstery strip at the rear of the seat base.







12 Release the upholstery strip along the edges of the seat base.
13 Undo the staples holding the foam and lift off the seat base from the foam cushion.
14 Unclip the seat upholstery from the foam cushion.
15 Remove the seat upholstery.

To fit







1 Fit the seat upholstery over the foam cushion.
2 Fit the staples using the pliers in fitting kit 84 71 062.
3 Place the seat base on the foam cushion and fit the staples.
4 Replace the strip along the edge of the seat base.
Check the fit and that it is secure.
5 Position the seat and fit the front screws without tightening them.







6 Place the screws in the back of the seat cushion, 2 screws.
7 Tighten the screws in the front of the seat cushion.
8 5D: Fit the plastic covers on each side of the backrest joint.
9 Plug in the connector and attach a new cable tie.







10 Fasten the straps on the bottom of the backrest upholstery under the seat cushion.
11 Where applicable, fit the seat belt mounting.







Tightening torque 33 Nm

12 Electrically adjustable front seats: First, fit the switch connector and any memory buttons to the seat side panel.







Fit the seat side panel by sliding it in to the designated groove and folding over the rear edge.
Fasten the seat side panel, 3 screws and 2 caps.

Manual seat: Fit the handle for the height adjustment and the backrest recliner knob.







NOTE:
If necessary, the backrest upholstery can be detached to make it easier to position the backrest recline spindle. Make sure the backrest upholstery does not get stuck between the side panel and the backrest. The upholster must side panel the spindle.


Fit the front seat into the car.
