Programming, Anti-Theft Protection

The anti-theft protection function is controlled by TWICE, which is basically programmed by the control module supplier. However, this may not satisfy the requirements of all markets (countries) and some additional programming can therefore be necessary during manufacture, so-called "Factory Programming".

When the car has been delivered to a market, it may be necessary to replace the TWICE control module or make other changes to the system. This calls for the possibility to carry out so-called "After Market Programming".

Factory Programming
The following programming is done at the factory:
- EOL programming (production)
- Market programming (delivery service), see the image below:

EOL programming
The control module is programmed in the car so that it can be identified by and can communicate with the other control modules (systems) in the car, and can also be combine programmed for immobilization.

Market programming
A number of parameters for the anti-theft alarm function are preset to comply with the requirements of various markets (countries).


IMPORTANT
Some settings are not allowed for certain markets.







After Market Programming
The following programming can be done during "After Market Programming":
- Spare parts programming
- Immobilization
- Anti-theft alarm
- Programming transponders and remote controls
- Self-arming
- Self-arming time

Spare parts programming
When the TWICE control module is replaced, the new module must be programmed in the car so that it will function correctly according to specification.

Immobilization
When the TWICE control module is replaced, the new module must be combine programmed with the Multi Instrument Unit (MIU) and the Engine Management System to ensure that the immobilization functions properly. Otherwise the engine will not start.

Anti-theft alarm
TWICE must be reprogrammed when fitting an anti-theft alarm, or adding an tilt sensor, or when the tilt sensor/glass breakage sensor is removed.

Programming transponders and remote controls
When replacing the TWICE control module, 2 transponders (car keys) and 2 remote controls are supplier with the new control module and they are pro-programmed to suit the new control module. If more than 2 transponders (car keys) and/or remote controls are required, e.g. the old units, they can be programmed to suit the new control module. The control module must be sought to recognise them. A maximum of 4 transponders (car keys) and 4 remote controls can be programmed and used simultaneously.

Self-arming
The self-arming function for the anti-theft alarm is not programmed during the delivery service (inactive). However, it can be programmed and made active and the arming time can be set as required.
