CHECK ENGINE Request, Short Circuit, Ground







Fault symptoms
CHECK ENGINE lamp on.

Conditions
Ignition ON. Short circuit to ground for longer than 2.5 sec.

Diagnostic help
CHECK ENGINE request comes from the automatic transmission control module to turn on the CHECK ENGINE lamp because of an emission-related fault in the automatic transmission.

Status, "ON/OFF", of CHECK ENGINE request can be read with the diagnostic tool.

- Select "CHECK ENGINE REQU."

The CHECK ENGINE request can be activated with the diagnostic tool via the automatic transmission control module.
- Engine running
- Select "AUT TRANSMISSION".
- Select "ACTIVATE".
- Select "CHECK ENGINE".

The CHECK ENGINE lamp should go on it the function is working correctly.

Checking the wiring harness. Intermittent faults may occur in connection with short circuits and open circuits. Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in several directions to locate any problems in the wiring, including intermediate connectors. Observe the multimeter, scan tool or test lamp during the check.
