P1500









P1500
Battery voltage too high or too low.

Fault symptoms
CHECK GEARBOX indicator lamp on.
TCM in Limp-Home mode.

Conditions
Battery voltage below 9 V or higher than 18 V for more than 0.5 seconds.

Diagnostic help
Diagnostic trouble code P1500 is not a fault in the true sense. Other diagnostic trouble codes may be generated if battery voltage is outside the normal limits.

Check the wiring
Jiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to reveal intermittent breaks and short circuits in the various leads. Observe the multimeter, test lamp or diagnostic instrument while carrying out this check.






Diagnostic procedure

1 Check additional diagnostic trouble codes
Check to see if other diagnostic trouble codes have been generated.

Are there other DTCs?
YES
Continue fault diagnosis on the relevant fault.
NO
Check the battery voltage and the control module ground connection and power supply if necessary. Then continue with step 2.






2 Final check
- Clear all diagnostic trouble codes in the system.
- Perform a driving cycle:
- Drive the car at varying loads and engine speeds for 5 minutes.
- Evaluate the driving cycle:
- Make sure the trouble code has not recurred.

Has the trouble code recurred?
YES
Continue with "Before changing a control module," see Fault diagnosis, general, "Before changing a control module." Before Changing A Control Module

NO
The steps taken to rectify the fault were correct.
