Checking The Thermostat
- The engine should be so cool that you can place your hand on the cylinder head without getting burnt.
- Contact Trionic 5 OBDII.
- Test value:
Coolant Temperature
- Start the engine and warm it up at idling speed.
- Check by feeling the upper radiator hose close to the thermostat housing, making sure that it warms up quickly when the coolant temperature reaches 89 °C and the thermostat opens.
- After this the coolant temperature should be comparatively constant, about 89 C (192 F), for a minute or so.
Is the function correct?
NO - Continue With Checking The Thermostat
YES -
Change the thermostat.
