Valve/Relay Bus. Fault












Fault symptom
Soft top cannot be operated. SID shows message SOFT TOP FAILURE.
Window lifts cannot be operated.

Condition
Control module does not get response from any unit connected to VR-bus, that is, all units are missing.

Diagnostic procedure
There is communication on the VR-bus as long as there is +54-current. This DTC is generated if response is missing from all units on the VR-bus.
Cause of the problem may be:
- open circuit between control module pin 14 and crimp J159
- shorting to ground on bus
- internal shorting in a relay or valve

Check the voltage between the VR-bus and ground using a multimeter. The voltage should be approximately 4.3 V

Checking wiring harness
Intermittent faults can exist during temporary short circuits and open circuits. Wiggle the wiring harness at several points and in different directions to discover problems in the wiring harness and connectors. Observe the multimeter, diagnostic tool or the test lamp during checking.
