Shift Cable: Service and Repair





Removal
1. Disconnect the battery's negative cable.
2. Release the floor console and pull it slightly to the rear.
3. Remove the centre console.
4. Remove the air ducts.
5. Release the cable securing points in the selector lever housing and remove the clip at the end of the cable.
6. Remove the battery.
7. Undo the selector lever arm's nut on the transmission.
8. Undo the cable casing's securing point.
9. Lift up the cable and remove the clip securing the selector lever arm.
10. Raise the car, snip the cable ties and press in the bulkhead lead-through.
11. Lower the car and pull the cable inwards through the bulkhead partition.





Installing
1. Push the cable through the bulkhead lead through as far as the battery tray.
2. Press the rubber lead-through in place in the bulkhead partition.
3. Install the selector lever arm and secure it with a clip.
4. Install the cable in the securing point in the transmission and to the selector lever shaft. Do not tighten the nut.
5. Insert the cable into the selector lever housing and tighten the cable casing.
6. Install the selector lever cable's lever.
Before tightening the nut, push the selector lever cable out as much as possible in order to relieve it of tension when the nut is tightened.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18.5 ft lbs).
7. Install the clip at the end of the wire.
8. Install the cable tie round the rubber lead-through.
9. Adjust the position of the selector lever.
10. Install the air ducts.
11. Install the centre console.
12. Install the floor console.
13. Install the battery and connect the cable.
