DTC Generation, ISAT Scan Tool DTC Readouts

The transmission control module sends information to the ISAT scan tool on the diagnostic trouble code and fault status. The ISAT scan tool presents an answer which depends on the fault status. The earlier example, in which shifting solenoid S1 was permanently shorted to ground, would entail the following:

^ If the fault is present right now, diagnostic trouble code P1852 is given the prefix P and the ISAT scan tool display shows:

FAULT 01 P P1852
SOLENOID 1-2/3-4
SHORTING TO GROUND

^ If the fault had occurred earlier but is not present right now, diagnostic trouble code P1852 is given the prefix I and the ISAT scan tool display will show:

FAULT 01 1 P1852
SOLENOID 1-2/3-4
SHORTING TO GROUND
