Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair






NOTE: The numbers found below in parenthesis ( ), refer to that number (and that part/component) found in the illustration. (The drawings show a car fitted with the V6 engine.)

REMOVAL
1. Raise the car and remove the wheel.
2. Place a jack under the spring link. Press upwards at the rear.
3. Remove the damper's lower retaining bolt.
4. Lower the spring link and remove the jack.
5. Place a crowbar or the like in the damper mounting bracket and carefully lever the spring link downwards. Remove the coil spring.


INSTALLATION
1. Press the spring link down and position the coil spring with spring support on it.

IMPORTANT: The marking on the coil spring should face rearwards.

2. Place a jack under the spring link.
3. Raise the spring link and install the retaining bolt for the lower damper mounting. Tighten the bolt.
Tightening torque: 62 Nm (45.8 ft. lbs.).
4. Remove the jack and install the wheel.
5. Lower the car to the floor and tighten the wheel bolts.
Tightening torque: 105 - 130 Nm (77.5 - 95.9 ft. lbs.).
