The oil is obtained from the engine lubrication system through a special oil pipe which runs from the oil filter's adapter housing.

Engine Oil, Petrol Engine (With and Without Turbocharger)

Saab "Turbo engine oil, Synthetic Blend" SAE 5W-30 or engine oil that fulfils the requirements of API SH/SJ and ACEA A3-98 with viscosity SAE 5W-30. These should be completely and Semi-Synthetic.

At constant temperatures in tropical climates, use 10W-50 or 15W-50, which also fulfil the above requirements.

Saab advises against the use of other additives.
