Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

The lamp is situated in the main instrument display panel and supplied with current from the +15 circuit. It is controlled from pin 32 of the engine control module and lights up when the ignition is switched on.

As soon as the engine control module receives pulses from the crankshaft position sensor, the lamp goes out unless activated by the OBD II system.
