Replacement of Front Wiring In Engine Bay

Front Wiring Harness In Engine Bay:

On M1997 and later cars the wiring is routed between right-hand and left-hand sides via the bulkhead partition instead of via the radiator member as earlier.

The APC and EVAP are now incorporated in the front wiring harness instead of the engine wiring harness. A new type of fastener for securing the wiring harness to the bulkhead partition now replaces the cable ties previously used.

To remove
1 Remove the battery, expansion tank, the two main fuse boxes, cruise control unit and air cleaner to gain access to the wiring harness in the engine bay.
2 Carefully mark every connector before unplugging it from its component.

To install
1 When fitting the new wiring harness, carefully check the color codes and cable codes of the connectors against the wiring diagrams in "Electrical system, wiring diagrams.

NOTE: Secure the wiring harness correctly so that all likelihood of chafing and unwanted noise made by loose leads is eliminated
