WARNING: Never remove the Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module signal ground on the A pillar without first disconnecting the battery. The control module could be seriously damaged.1. SDA Mk II should never be connected to the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT).
2. The data link connector is located by the steering column under the facia.
3. During diagnosis the ignition key should always be in the drive position.
4. Read out and make a note of all stored diagnostic trouble codes for all systems before the battery and any control modules are disconnected.
5. If it is not possible to establish contact between the ISAT and the cooling system, first check that fuse nos 3 (1-speed radiator fan or 2-speed radiator fan, low speed) or 4 (2-speed radiator fan, high speed) in the engine compartment's distribution centre is intact and that there is power to the fuse.
- Then check the cable between ICE control module's connection 60 and data link connector's pin 8.
6. Also check that there is power and correct ground in the data link connector and that the connector's pins are undamaged and securely fitted.
7. Diagnostic trouble code lists are found under Diagnostic Trouble Code Charts. Cooling System
8. To avoid damage to the control module/ components, always check that the ignition is switched off before the connector(s) is disconnected.
9. Check that the control module's ground connection and power supply are correct.
10. It could sometimes be necessary to remove connectors and check that connections and pins are undamaged and securely fitted.
- Reconnect connectors and erase all diagnostic trouble codes.
- If possible, start/run the car and check if the fault(s) are still there.
11. All signals around the 12 V level are proportional to the battery voltage and the levels should thus only be used as a guide.
12. The 0 V signals designate ground, but could on a sensitive multimeter give an indication of a measurable voltage.
13. Never switch from one module to another (for example from V, via A to Ohm) on the measuring instrument without first having disconnected the instrument's measuring cables.
NOTE: After having carried out a check of the functioning, always erase the fault memory with the "CLEAR FAULT CODES" command.
