Wheel Speed, No Signal

Fault Symptom
The diagnostic trouble code for one of the other electronic systems in the car displays that there is no speed signal.

Condition
Open/short-circuit in the electrical circuit.

Diagnostic Procedure
1. Cable inspection
- Remove the electronic control module. connector. Remove the connector to the electronic control module that detected the faulty wheel speed. Make a continuity test on the cables between the respective electronic control module.

Is the cable OK?
If YES Continue with point 2.
If NO Rectify the fault





2. Wheel speed signal check
- Connect the ABS electronic control module Lift the car Take a voltage measurement, mVac, at the particular connector pin that detected the faulty wheel speed in the electronic control module. Rotate the wheel concerned by hand at 1 turn a second. The voltmeter should show a reading of 100 mVac.

Is the voltage OK?
If YES Continue the fault diagnosis.
If NO Continue with point 3.

3. Final inspection
- Make an operation check.
- Erase the diagnostic trouble code in the system concerned
- Drive the car with varying loads and engine speeds for approx. 5 minutes.
- Check if the fault symptom remains.

Lit the fault symptoms remain?
If YES, Continue with Preliminary Steps Prior To (ECM) Replacement Procedure.
If NO The diagnostic procedure taken is right.
