ABS Lamp Not Operating
Fault Symptom
- The lamp test is carried out with the ignition timing on.
- ABS-lamp should be on for approx. 3 seconds.
- ABS lamps fails to come on.
Condition
- Open-circuit in the electrical circuit.
Diagnostic Help
ABS lamp can be activated with the ISAT Scan Tool
- Select "ACTIVATE"
- Select "ABS LAMP"
Diagnostic Procedure
1. ABS lamp operation check
- Remove electronic control module connector The ignition timing is in the ON position.
- Interconnect a loop between pin 21 and pin 19 in the electronic control module sensor connector. The ABS lamp should come on.
Does the lamp come on?
If YES Check the electronic control module connector for damp, corrosion and dislodged contact pins. Continue with point 2.
If NO Inspect the cable between pin 21 of the ABS electronic control module and pin 16 of the main instrument. If cable is not faulty refer to wiring diagrams and inspect instrument cluster
2. Final inspection
- Make a operations check of the ABS lamp with the ignition timing switched on.
Does the lamp come on?
If YES The diagnostic procedure taken is right.
If NO, Continue with Preliminary Steps Prior To (ECM) Replacement Procedure.
