ABS Lamp Is on Continually

Fault Symptom
The ABS lamp is on constantly.

Condition
- Short circuit to ground in the electrical circuit.
- The ABS electronic control module faults +15 voltage (pin 15).

Diagnostic Procedure
1. Inspection of fuses
Check that fuse 19 is intact.

Is fuse 19 intact?
If YES Continue with point 2.
If NO Replace fuse.

2. ABS lamp operation check
Disconnect the electronic control module connector. The ignition timing is in the ON position.

Is the ABS lamp on?
If YES Inspect the conductors between pin 21 of the electronic control module and pin 16 of the main instrument.
If cable is not faulty refer to wiring diagrams and inspect instrument cluster
If NO Continue With Point 3

3. The electronic control module +15 voltage supply check.
- The ignition timing is in the ON position.
Take a voltage measurement between B+ and the electronic control module sensor connector, pin 15.
The voltage should be less than 0.5V.

Is the voltage correct?
If YES Continue with point 5.
If NO Continue with point 4.

4. Check the +15-voltage supply
- Check that there is a +15-voltage at fuse 19. The ignition timing is in the ON position. Connect the test lamp between fuse 19 and a definite grounding point.

Does the test lamp come on?
If YES Check and rectify the cable including the connector between fuse 19 and pin 15 of the electronic control module.
If NO Continue with electrical troubleshooting, refer to wiring diagrams for power supply.

5. Final inspection
Make a operations check of the ABS lamp with the ignition timing switched on.

Does the ABS lamp operate correctly?
If YES The diagnostic procedure taken was correct
If NO, Continue with Preliminary Steps Prior To (ECM) Replacement Procedure.
