Luggage Compartment Lighting Switch
Fault symptom
The tailgate is disconnected from the alarm system.
The LED flashes during the delay period.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Check operation of the lamp, tailgate open/closed
Check normal operation:
- The lamp should be on when the tailgate is open and
- It can be turned off manually by means of the switch incorporated in the lamp.
Does it work properly?
[YES] Continue with point 2.
[NO] Continue fault diagnosis as described in Service Manual 3:2 "Electrical system, luggage compartment illumination".
2 Check operation of the lamp, tailgate open/closed
- Connect an Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool.
- Select "READ VALUES".
- Select "TAILGATE SWITCH".
- Open and close the tailgate, observing the ISAT scan tool display at the same time.
The ISAT scan tool display should read "OPEN" and "CLOSED" as appropriate.
Does the display show a correct reading?
[YES] Proceed to point 4.
[NO] Continue with point 3.
3 Check the wiring connected to the electronic control module
Check the wiring harness for continuity between the luggage compartment switch and pin 3 of the electronic control module.
The resistance should be < 1 ohm.
Is the resistance OK?
[YES] Continue with point 4.
[NO] Repair or replace the wiring harness.
4 Final test
Check to see if the fault symptom persists.
Does the trouble persist?
[YES] Continue as described in "Before Changing The Electronic Control Module".
[NO] The remedial measures taken were correct or the fault is of intermittent nature.
