Fig. 17 Code B1377: Wheel Sensor Front Right, Signal Faulty Open Circuit (Part 2 Of 2):
Fault symptom
ABS warning lamp on, no ABS function.
Condition
Fault registered as open-circuit
Diagnostic help
The front right wheel sensor can be read by ISAT.
- Select "READ FUNCTIONS"
- Select "WHEEL SPEEDS"
The current wheel speed in km/h is displayed.
- If the front assembly of the vehicle is lifted the ISAT should display approx. 5 km/h if the right front wheel is rotated by hand at approx. 1 turn per second.
Diagnostic procedure
1 Wheel sensor resistance check
- Disconnect the electronic control module connector.
- Take a resistance reading at the electronic control module sensor connector between pin 3 and 5. The resistance should be 0.8-1.7 k0hm
Is the resistance correct?
YES - Continue with point 3.
NO - Continue with point 2.
2 Wheel sensor resistance check
- Remove the wheel sensor connector (2 pin connector located at the right of the wheel housing in the engine compartment).
- Take a resistance reading in the wheel sensor connector between the two connector pins. The resistance should be O.8-I.7 kOhm
Is the resistance rating correct?
YES - Check and rectify the wiring including the connection between the electronic control module and the wheel sensor connector.
NO - Check and possibly rectify the wiring including the connector to the wheel sensor. If there is no relevant reason for the fault, change the wheel sensor.
3 Final inspection
- Erase the diagnostic trouble code.
- Perform the driving cycle, drive the car at varying loads and engines speeds for 5 minutes.
- Read diagnostic trouble codes.
Is the diagnostic trouble code stored?
YES - Continue With "Test Procedure Prior To Replacing ECM"
NO - The diagnostic procedure taken is right.
