Cooling System
NOTE: Cooling temperature lower than -60°C (-76°F) or higher than +160°C (+320°F)
FAULT SYMPTOM
Radiator Fan Running All The Time.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. Select "OBTAIN READOUTS" on the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT) menu followed by "COOLANT TEMP.".
- Read the result on ISAT.
- The coolant temperature should be 80-90°C (176-194°F) when the engine is warm.
- If there is a fault in the circuit, ISAT will show 215°C (419°F).
2. Check the resistance on the coolant temperature sensor's connector and compare with the table.
- If the resistance is not correct, the fault is in the temperature sensor. Install a new temperature sensor.
- If the resistance is correct, connect a Break Out Box (BOB) and check the cable between Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module connections 5 and 58 respectively and coolant temperature sensor connections 2 and 1 respectively as regards open circuits/short circuits.
