A new diagnostic scan tool called TECH 2 will be introduced to all Saab dealers in mid-November 1996. Until that time you must continue to use ISAT on all vehicles, including 1997 models. However, when scanning 1997 systems with ISAT the following exceptions exist:

^ When scanning the Motronic 5.2 system, you can only use the GST menu - not the Saab menu.

^ When scanning the Motronic 4.1 system, you can use either the Saab or GST menu except for "Read Values". For that function you must use the GST menu. If the Saab menu is selected for this function corrupted data will be supplied.

^ At this point, no freeze frame information is available from TECH 2. Use SAT to retrieve freeze frame information from a 1996 or 1997 engine management system when the MIL is illuminated.

^ Note that Trionic functions remain the same in 1997 as in 1996.
