Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair





The crankshaft position sensor is located on the flywheel end of the engine, below the oil filter.

To Remove
1. Remove the engine covers.
2. Unplug the sensor's connector (by the left-hand side of the intake manifold).
3. Note how the wiring is run and where the cable tie securing points are located. Then remove the wiring.
4. Raise the car.
5. Remove the oil filter. Unscrew the sensor's retaining bolt and remove the sensor. Note the position of the sealing ring.

To Install
1. Clean the seat for the sensor and install it in place.

Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ft lbs).

2. Install the oil filter.
3. Run the wiring and secure it with cable ties.
4. Plug in the connector.
5. Install the engine covers back in place.
Top up with motor oil as necessary.
