Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Oil Sump, Oil Strainer and Antislosh Baffle, to Change (In Car)

NOTE:
^ Step numbers below refer to numbers used in the illustrations.
^ In vehicle.

REMOVAL



1. Raise the car, drain the oil and remove the subframe, refer to Suspension and Steering.
2. Undo the oil pan retaining bolts and remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the bolts in the on strainer holder.
- Remove the oil suction pipe's retaining bolts in the oil pump.
- Remove the strainer.
- Note the oil suction pipe's O-ring.
4. Remove the antislosh baffles.





INSTALLATION
1. Install the antislosh baffles.
- Apply Loctite 242, or equivalent, to secure the bolts, then tighten to: 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the oil strainer.
- Note the oil suction pipe's O-ring.
- Apply Loctite 242, or equivalent, to secure the bolts, then tighten to: 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.).
3. Apply sealing compound to the joint at the mating surface, as shown.
- The surface must be free from oil and grease.
4. Position the gasket and install the oil pan.
- Apply Loctite 242, or equivalent to secure the bolts.
- Tighten the bolts in the order shown to: 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the subframe, refer to Suspension and Steering.
- Fill up with engine oil.
