Background
When driving on uneven surfaces or over defects in
the road, a rattling and squeaking can be heard from
various places in the car.
After a complaint from the customer, the car must be
rectified as described.
Materials
Fitting kit 49 02 037 (CA: 30569904)
Procedure
Vanity mirror lid
1. Remove any rattle suppressing details from the vanity mirror lid.
2. Fit spacer 48 88 574 on the left hand sun visor. The spacer must be placed on the outside of the mirror lid on the handle side.
3. Repeat the procedure for the right hand sun visor.
Handle, first bow
1. Remove the 2 screws on the handle.
2. Remove the handle.
3. Fit rubber strip 49 O1 393 around the handle.
4. Refit the handle.
Threaded bar, second bow
1. Open the top so that it points straight up.
2. Undo the screw/screws securing the threaded bar on the left hand side.
3. Make a note of the length of thread protruding from the second bow. Detach the bar from the second bow.
4. Fit nut 49 01 153 on the bow, screw it down to the bottom of the thread.
5. Fit the threaded bar with the same length of thread protruding as earlier.
6. Lock the joint with the new nut. Make sure the second bow does not stick.
7. Repeat the procedure for the right hand side.
Foam rubber strips, second and third bows
1. Open the top so that it points straight up.
2. Undo the front of the headlining and detach it from the first and second bows.
3. Remove the Strips in the second and third bows.
4. Fit new foam rubber strips 49 O1 385 in the second and third bows with the thick side down.
5. Attach the headlining to the second and first bows. Attach the front of the headlining.
Felt tape, tonneau cover flaps
1. Open the tonneau cover.
2. Fit felt tape 49 60 555 onto the plastic rib next to the flap on the left hand side of the tonneau cover.
3. Repeat the procedure for the right hand side.
