Fault symptom
No symptoms

Condition
Fault registered with open circuit for longer than 1 second.

Diagnostic help
Brake light switch position ON/OFF, can be read with the ISAT Scan Tool.
- Select "READ FUNCTIONS"
- Select "BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH"

Diagnostic procedure
1 Brake light switch inspection.
- Connect the ISAT Scan Tool. The ignition switch is in the ON position
- Check the brake light switch in accordance with Diagnostic help and depress and release the brake pedal.

Does the ISAT display the correct rating?
YES - Continue with point 3.
NO - Continue with point 2.

2 Brake lights inspection.
- Check that the brake light functions when the brake pedal is depressed.

Does the brake light function?
YES- Check and rectify the cable including the connector between pin 14 of the electronic control module and brake light switch.
NO - Continue the fault diagnosis

3 Final Inspection
Erase the diagnostic trouble code.
- Perform a driving cycle, drive the car with varying loads and engine speed and use the brake pedal.
- Read the diagnostic trouble code.

Is the diagnostic trouble code stored?
YES - Continue with "Test Procedure Prior To Replacing ECM"
NO - The diagnostic procedure performed is right or the fault is of intermittent character.
