P0322

DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES PO322, PO336
Crankshaft position sensor, input to control module incorrect or absent.

Fault Symptom.
Engine will not start, erratic running, misfiring.
Diagnostic trouble code P0322 generated if engine fails to start.

Condition
No input with ignition switched ON or the large gap in the perforated disc is incorrectly detected at engine speeds above 520 rpm.

Diagnostic Procedure.
1. Unplug the crankshaft position sensor connector and measure the voltage across pins 1 and 2 of the connector (for the sensor) while engaging the starter motor. The correct voltage is about 2-5 V (AC).

If the voltage OK, proceed to point 2.
If the voltage is not OK, or no voltage is present, check the resistance across pins 1 and 2. It should be 500-600 ohms.

If the resistance is OK, proceed to step 2.
If the resistance is NOT OK, check the wiring between the connector and the crankshaft position sensor.
If the wiring is OK, change the crankshaft position sensor.

2. Check The Wiring between pins 1 and 2 of the connector and pins 49 and 48 of the control module. Rectify any fault in the wiring.

If the wiring is OK, continue with the next step.

3. Carry out a visual check to make sure that the gear ring rotates with the crankshaft and that the holes are not clogged. Also check that the distance between the gear ring and the sensor is about 0.4-1.3 mm. Rectify any fault.

If the cause of the fault has not come to light in spite of carrying out the above test, continue at "Before Replacing Control Module" for further diagnostic instructions. Before Replacing A Control Module
