Malfunction Lamp / Indicator: Description and Operation
Warning LampFaults in the system are indicated by the SRS symbol in the main instrument lighting and staying lit. If the car is equipped with a central warning lamp, this lights together with the SRS lamp.
When the ignition key is turned to the start or drive position, the SRS lamp lights for 34 seconds and then goes out, providing no trouble codes are stored.
If diagnostic trouble codes are stored, the lamp will light for 3 to 4 seconds and go out for a half a second and then light constantly until the ignition is switched off or the diagnostic trouble codes are erased. If the airbags have been activated, the SRS lamp stays lit.
SRS Lamp Voltage Supply
The SRS lamp is fed voltage via fuse 17 and grounded by the control module via pin 7.
If the control module connector is disconnected, when the ignition is switched on, the lamp is grounded via a short-circuiting strap to pin 6 in the connector and stays lit.
