DESCRIPTION OF OPERATION
The tailgate can be opened either by means of switch 388 on the driver's door or by using the key. When the tailgate is opened by means of switch 388, motor 188 is supplied with current (+30 circuit) from the switch via fuse 25.

A spring in motor 188 ensures that it always returns to the locked position.

To avoid bouncing of the motor on its return, it is braked by both sides of it being connected to ground.

Cabriolet
On the Cabriolet, opening of the boot lid is controlled by the top stack actuation system control module.

Unlocking can take place only when:
^ the hood is completely raised (up)
^ the hood is completely lowered (down) and the ignition switch is in the drive position.

On cars having chassis number S7010001 and later that are equipped with an anti-theft alarm, the boot lid cannot be opened by the remote control when the hood is down.

FAULTS DIAGNOSIS HINTS
1. Check that fuse 25 is intact and supplied with current.
2. Check that current is supplied to pin 2 of switch 388.
3. Check that current is supplied to pin 2 of the motor when switch 388 is pressed.
4. Check the connectors, wiring harness and ground connections.
