Replacing Windshield Frame Weather Seal

REPLACING WINDSHIELD FRAME WEATHERSEAL

CHANGE THE WINDSHIELD FRAME WEATHERSEAL.

Parts:

Butyl tape 30 17 795 or 3M Ribbon Sealer P/N 51135/08610
Weatherseal, windshield frame 45 51 107
Rubber mouldings, 100 mm (4) 45 58 110*

*As needed

1. Lower the top fully by using the "ROOF" switch. Lower all windows.

2. Remove the existing seal from around the windshield frame. See Figure 3.A. Clean surface with degreaser.

3. Remove the existing round round rubber reinforcemen! from the old seal (approx. 200 mm). Cut this in half and insert one piece in the bottom of the new weatherseal (see Figure 3.B.2) and insert the other half into the drain hole (see Figure 3.B.1). You must push this piece in fully so that the end goes past the drain hole. If you let this piece protrude at all you will block the drain.

4. Apply butyl tape to the ends of the windshield frame weatherseal. See Figure 3.B.3.

5. Check that the butyl tape at the corners of the windshield frame is intact and located as shown in Figure 3.D above. If necessary. add more butyl tape. P/N 30 17 795.

6. Fit the new windshield frame weatherseal in place. Start by fitting both corners of the seal to the comers of the windshield frame.

The groove in the seal can be lubricated with soapy water to facilitate fitting it.
