Checking Movement of Balance Link Arm

SUBJECT # 12:
CONTROLLING THE MOVEMENT OF THE BALANCE LINK ARM BY CHECKING TORQUE OF CAM BOLT

APPLICATION:
VIN SERIAL NOS. S7000216-S7013982SS

Check that the torque on the balance link arm lower attachment Is correct on both sides.

NOTE
If upon inspection these bolts are found to be loose, the left and right eccentrics may not be adjusted equally. This could cause the guide pins to not be aligned properly at the windshield header. If this Is the case, the eccentrics must be adjusted so that they are equal and the guide pins align correctly with the header. Then, torque the cam bolt.

CAUTION:
DO NOT move these eccentric adjusters unless absolutely necessary.

1. Operate the soft top by means of the "ROOF" button until it is in the position shown in Figure 15.A. The soft top. 5th bow and Tonneau cover should be fully raised.

2. Hold the bolt using channel lock pliers. Do not damage the electrical cables. See Figure 15.B.

3. Check the tightening torque of the nut using a torque wrench. See Figure 15.C.

Tightening torque: 20-25 Nm (15-18 ft.lbs.)
