SUBJECT # 13:
CHECKING THE TOP'S MECHANICAL STOP POSITION WHEN RAISED

APPLICATION:
VIN SERIAL NOS. S7000216-S7015157

Figures 16A, B, C

Check the top's mechanical stop position when raised. Adjust as necessary.

The stop position is determined by mechanical stops where the top is attached to the body at the main pivot bracket It can be adjusted by slackening the locknut and screwing the stop In or out.

1. Operate the top using the "ROOF" switch until it is in the position shown above. The top 5th bow and Tonneau cover should be fully raised.

2. Close and open the locking handles in the first bow.

3. Check that the ends of the locating pegs in the first bow are exactly in line with the edge of the latch fittings in the windshield frame. At the same time, the top should be parallel with the windshield frame. See Figure 16.A.

NOTE
If adjustment is needed, turn each stop only 1/4 turn at a time and recheck clearance.

4. If the ends of the locating pegs are below the edge of the locating holes in the windshield frame, the mechanical stops must be adjusted outwards (turned anti-clockwise). Raise the top slightly to gain access to the stops. See Figure 1 6.B.

5. If the locating pegs are above the latch fittings in the windshield frame, the mechanical stops must be adjusted inwards (turned clockwise). Raise the top slightly to gain access to the stops. See Figure 16.C.

6. Repeat points 1-3 and check the clearance. Continue adjustment as necessary.
