Windows: Description and Operation
All window lifts in the car can be operated by means of a switch on the centre console between the front seats. The window lifts in the rear doors can also under certain circumstances be operated by means of the switch in the corresponding door.^ Switch 386 for operating the window lifts in the front doors is supplied with current via fuse 14.
^ Switch 386 for operating the window lifts in the rear doors is supplied with current via fuse 7.
^ If the ON/OFF switch is closed, the window lifts in the rear doors can also be operated by switch 190A in the left-hand rear door and switch 191A in the right-hand rear door.
^ If the INFO switch is open, the switches in the rear doors will be inoperative. The window lifts in the rear doors can then be operated only by means of switch 386 on the centre console.
^ When the "window" symbol on any of the switches is pressed, the corresponding window will be lowered.
^ When the switch is "pulled up", the window will be raised.
Automatic Window Lift Control
The switches in the front doors are different to the other switches in that they have two positions to lower the window and one position to roll up the window.
Position 1: The window will be lowered as long as the switch is held in this position. This supplies pin 1 of the motors with current and at the same time grounds pin 2.
Position 2: The window will be lowered fully, even it the switch is released after a brief moment. This activates a time circuit in switch 386, which supplies current to pin 2 for 6 seconds and at the same time grounds pin 1.
Position 3: The window will be raised as long as the switch is held in this position. This supplies pin 2 of the motors with current and at the same time grounds pin 1.
