Gearbox

The gearbox position have been selected as shown on the diagram on the gear lever knob.
To get past 5th gears track and into the track of the reverse gear (R) a locking button under the gear lever knob must be lifted. In its Neutral position, the gear lever tries to reach an equilibrium, because of the spring Loading inside the gearbox, opposite 3rd and 4th gears. This is done to make it easier for the drive to find his way through the gear change pattern and to avoid changing into the wrong gear.
The selector shafts of all the forward gears are journaled in Teflon bushes to give the least possible friction and to achieve low gear changing forced with a perfect gear changing feeling.

In order to avoid engaging more than one gear simultaneously, the gearbox is installed with a double position retaining mechanism. The retaining mechanism consists of three balls and two cylindrical pins, which are placed through the bearing bracket and the selector shafts. When a gear is engaged, this means that the corresponding selector shaft is pushed inward or outward and the line between balls and pins is thus broken. The balls then arrive in the positions where they lock the remaining selector shafts.

To prevent a transfer of sound and vibrations from the drive unit via the gear change lever (3), the linkage (1) between the selector shaft in the gearbox and the external gear change is installed with a "rubber universal joint".

Between the selector shaft in the gearbox and the rubber joint there is a linkage to transfer the lateral movement of the gear change lever from the gear lever to the selector shaft.

The external gear change (gear lever (3)) can be fixed in 4th position in the gear lever housing with a locking pin, which is inserted into the hole (4) in the gear lever housing. With 4th gear engaged, the selector shaft in the gearbox can also be fixed with a locking pin and connected to the gear change lever by the clamp (2) in the linkage. In this way, we have a very precise and service-friendly assembly and adjustment method between external gear change and gearbox.

The car is installed with a gear lever lock. This means that the gear lever is locked in reverse when the ignition switch is set in the LOCK position. The gear lever (10) is locked with a locking plate (1) which is controlled from the ignition switch.
The ball of the gear lever (6) is journaled in a self-adjusting spherical seat (5) to avoid play.
