Starter Motor Interlock +50, Without Anti-Theft Alarm
CHECKING OF STARTER MOTOR INTERLOCK +50, CARS WITHOUT ANTI-THEFT ALARM
Fault symptom
Starter motor does not work.
Fuse 36 blows.
Starter motor runs at different ignition positions.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Check fuse 36 and if there is battery positive voltage to the fuse.
2. With the ignition switched OFF, disconnect connector H10-1 located behind the battery in the engine compartment (black 10-pin Packard connector).
Check the voltage between pin 4 (male) and battery negative voltage when the ignition key is turned to starting position. Nominal value is battery positive voltage.
If the voltmeter shows the correct value, go to point 3.
If the voltmeter shows the wrong value, check the wiring between fuse 36 and connector H10-1, pin 4 and remedy any faults.
3. Carry out continuity measuring of the transmission range switch's starting motor interlock switch with its wiring. Connect an ohm meter between pins 3 and 4 in connector H10-1.
With the selector lever in position P and position N the resistance should be <1 Ohm. In all other selector lever positions the resistance should be infinite.
If the ohm meter shows the correct value, check Electrical System, starting motor interlock +50.
If the ohm meter shows a different value, the wiring and connectors must be checked and and faults remedied or the transmission range switch adjusted or a new one fitted.
