CHECKING STARTER MOTOR INTERLOCK +50, CAR WITH ANTI-THEFT ALARM
Fault symptom

Fuse 36 blows.
Starter motor runs at different ignition positions.
Alarm does not go off in start position when it is activated.
Starter motor runs at different ignition positions.
Diagnostic procedure
1. Check starter motor interlock +50. Point 7, anti-theft alarm's pin 1 is not directly connected to starter relay's pin 86 but goes via starter motor interlock switch 239 pins 5 and 7 in the transmission range switch.
2. Carry out continuity measuring of the transmission range switch's starting motor interlock switch and its wiring.
With the ignition switched OFF, disconnect connector H10-1 located behind the battery in the engine compartment (black 10-pin Packard connector).
Connect an ohm-meter between pins 3 and 4. With the selector lever in position P and position N, the resistance should be <1 Ohm. In all other selector lever positions the resistance should be infinite.
If the ohm meter shows the correct value, check Electrical Systems.
If the ohm meter shows a different value, the wiring including the connectors must be checked and remedied or the transmission range switch adjusted or a new one fitted.
