TCS Active
TCS ACTIVE
The Traction Control System (TCS) identifies wheel spin and reduces the engine's torque by controlling the TCS throttle. The TCS indicator lamp in the facia comes on at the same time. The indicator lamp comes on because the TCS control module grounds pin 12. Pin 4 on the TCM is also grounded in parallel.
The TCM thus receives information about wheel spin via the voltage levels of the battery positive voltage and ground.
The result is that the quality of gear shifting is controlled as a function of the opening angle of the TCS throttle, TCS throttle position signal, instead of the main throttle's position signal from the MOTRONIC ECM. The gear shifting points are, however, still determined by the position of the main throttle.
Furthermore, the indicator lamp comes on for 3 seconds when the ignition key is moved to drive position.
