Adjustment of Two-Cable Handbrake
Application:
Certain 1994 900 Models
From VIN Serial No. R2023870 (inclusive) a new two-cable handbrake system was introduced into production. This bulletin describes the procedures to follow to adjust this new 2-cable handbrake system.
Cars Affected:
900 models from VIN Serial No. R2023870 inclusive
Action:
Adjusting the brake shoes -
1. Raise the car and remove the rear wheels.
2. Unscrew the adjusting device until the brake disc is locked. See Figure 1.
3. Screw in the adjusting device until the brake disc drags slightly but can still be rotated.
4. Repeat points 2-3 on the other brake disc.
5. Refit the rear wheels.
6. Pull up the handbrake to the 4th-6th notch.
Check that both rear wheels are locked. Also check that the handbrake lever is not too high up when the rear wheels are locked. If necessary, adjust the cable equalization (see below).
Adjusting cable equalization -
1. Set the handbrake at the second notch.
2. Raise the car.
3. Tighten the adjusting nut on the rod until the brake begins to act.
4. Lower the car slightly, enough to reach in and operate the handbrake.
5. Release the handbrake and apply it once again. The wheels should be locked at the 4th-6th notch.

Labor Operation: 55182 for 0.5 hrs. + 55147 for 0.2 hrs. if adjustment of cable is necessary.
