Subject: Correcting a Customer Complaint of a Rattling Noise from the Clutch Plate

Application: Certain 1994- 900 and 9000 Models with Normally-aspirated 4-cylinder Engine and Manual Transmission

Customers may complain of a rattling noise during light acceleration and under load at engine speeds of 1200-2200 rpm. This noise can be made by the clutch plate.

1994 900 models (with normally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission) with Engine Serial No. up to and including S086809

1994 9000 models (with normally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission) with Engine Serial No. up to and including S086810

Parts:

Clutch Plate 87 44 070

Action:

1. Change the clutch plate. Refer to Service Manual, "Manual gearbox," page 411-1.
