Seat Belt Tensioner: Description and Operation

The pyrotechnical seat belt pretensioner is located in the seat belt retractor units found in the vehicle "B" pillar. The unit contains a gas generator and piston, which in a collision will automatically tighten the seat belt and shoulder harness.
