Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

NOTE: It may be necessary to clear the DTCs from the control module memory after component has been installed.

Use care when handling control module as it is sensitive to static electricity. Do not touch or allow foreign objects to come in contact with connector pins.

1. Disarm SRS as outlined under Air Bag / Disarming and Arming.
2. Apply parking brake.
3. Remove center console as follows:
a. Remove ignition switch cover, loosen front lefthand edge first, then rear, then pry out front, Fig. 13.
b. Disconnect ignition switch lamp, then remove front console retaining screws.
c. Remove rear ash tray, then remove rear cover screw and rear cover.
d. Remove rear retaining nuts, then loosen center console by lifting and pulling back slightly.
e. Remove and disconnect interior lamp turn, heated seat turn and power window turn.
f. Lift out center console.
4. Cut cable ties and unplug orange connector, then disconnect ground connections where needed.
5. Remove control module bracket mounting screws, then lift out assembly. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure arrow markings on control module face forward.
b. Tighten attaching screws to specifications.
