This system consists of a safety sensor, control module, driver and passenger air bag modules, and pyrotechnical seat belt pretensioners, Fig. 1 .

The air bag(s) and pyrotechnical seat belt pretensioner(s) will activate when the safety sensor is subjected to a force equivalent to a frontal collision at approximately 15 mph.
