Malfunction Indicator Lamp - A/T: Description and Operation

CHECK GEARBOX WARNING LAMP
The CHECK ENGINE warning lamp is found in the main instrument.

The lamp is grounded by the TCM via pin 6 and powered via the main instrument.

The lamp comes on for 3 seconds when the ignition is switched to drive position (lamp test).

The TCM activates the emergency operation program and switches on the warning lamp when certain specified faults occur in the functioning. The missing function is replaced in the TCM by a fixed, stored replacement value, which makes it possible to drive the car to a workshop.

The emergency operating program gives a gear position as follows:
Gear position P R N D 3 2 1
Emergency operation P R N 4 4 3 3

Diagnostic trouble codes will appear at the same time as the lamp comes on.
