Basic Setting of Boost Pressure Regulator

The wastegate's diaphragm unit is adjusted at the factory and should therefore only be adjusted in connection with repair or change of components. After any adjustment the basic boost pressure should always be checked, refer to "Checking of basic boost pressure (on road)". Testing and Inspection

IMPORTANT: When you adjust the length of the pressure rod it is important that the pliers, which you use as support, are placed as close to the thread as possible. Turn the end piece carefully so there will be no burrs on the pressure rod. Adjustment should always be carried out with the pressure rod released from the control lever.

Adjustment With The Diaphragm Unit And The Wastegate Fitted To The Turbocharger

1 Undo the locking nut on the end piece.

2 Break the seal, remove the locking ring and release the pressure rod from the control lever.

3 Move the control lever on the wastegate to the "Closed" position and adjust the end piece so that it is easy to install the pressure rod on the control lever's journal.

4 Then screw in the end piece 2.5 revolutions and tighten the locking nut. The wastegate has thus been given a "pre-tension" of about 3 mm.

5 Carefully pull out the pressure rod and hook it on to the control lever's journal. Install the locking ring.

6 Check the boost pressure, see "Checking the basic boost pressure (on road)". Testing and Inspection

7 Re-seal the pressure rod.
