Adjusting the Basic Boost Pressure
IMPORTANT:
The basic boost pressure is the starting position for the Trionic SFI system's pressure regulating function and therefore must be adjusted to the correct level.
The adaptive function in the system makes possible continuous compensation of the maximum boost pressure in relation to the current basic boost pressure.
Any increase in the basic boost pressure above the stated value will not mean a higher boost pressure, as the adaptive function will then adjust the maximum boost pressure downwards to a nominal value (negative adaptation).
When you adjust the length of the pressure rod, it is important that the pliers, which you use as support, are placed as close as possible to the thread. Turn the end piece carefully so there will be no burrs on the pressure rod.
1. Lift up the car and undo the locking nut on the end piece.
2. Break the seal, remove the locking nut and unhook the pressure rod from the wastegate's control lever.
3. Adjust the basic boost pressure by screwing the end piece in, if the basic boost pressure is too low, and by screwing it out, if it is too high.
One full turn of the end piece results in a change in the basic boost pressure of about 0.02 Bar.
4. Reconnect the pressure rod to the control lever and refit the locking ring.
5. Once again carry out checking of the basic boost pressure on the road. Testing and Inspection
If it is not possible to adjust the basic boost pressure:
- Refer to "Checking the Wastegate" Testing and Inspection or,
- Refer to "Checking the Wastegate Diaphragm Unit" Testing and Inspection
6. Reseal the pressure rod.
