Throttle Body: Service and Repair
To Remove
1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Remove the connecting pipe from the throttle body.
3. Disconnect the throttle cable and Cruise Control cable.
4. Unscrew the expansion tank filler cap to release the pressure in the cooling system.
5. Remove the [1][2]idle air control valve.
6. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body.
7. Disconnect other hoses from the throttle body.
8. Remove the throttle position sensor.
9. Remove the 4 retaining screws and lift away the throttle body.
To Install
1. Check the condition and positioning of the O-ring.
2. Install the throttle body and tighten the retaining screws.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ft lbs).
3. Install the throttle position sensor.
4. Check the setting of the throttle valve by measuring the depth to the valve. The distance should be the same on both sides of the throttle valve. Use a slide caliper.
If necessary, adjustment can be carried out by undoing the 2 screws and then moving the bracket in the desired direction.
5. Connect all hoses as well as the throttle cable and cruise control cable.
6. Install the [1][2]idle air control valve.
7. Install the connecting pipe to the throttle body.
8. Install the engine cover.
9. Check functionality.
